Changes in BeagleWrite GS v3.2 The following is a list of improvements that have been made to BeagleWrite GS since the manual was printed. If these things don't make sense now, read the manual and become more familiar with the program. Then come back and check this list out again. o BeagleWrite GS now includes Apple System Software 5.0 (GS/OS 3.0). You'll notice a great speed improvement over ProDOS 16. o BeagleWrite GS now requires 1 Megabyte of memory to run; we recommend 1.25 Megabytes. It will work with only 768K, but to use the Spelling Checker or Thesaurus, you will need at least 1 Megabyte. BeagleWrite GS will not run on machines with less than 768K. o The Finder is no longer included on the BeagleWrite GS System Disk. (With the new, larger GS/OS operating system, there was not enough room on the disk.) The Apple IIGS Program Launcher is used instead. After booting the BeagleWrite GS disk, just press RETURN to start BeagleWrite GS. o The Choose Printer command on the File menu has been changed for the new System Software: 1. Instead of selecting Choose Printer from the File menu, select Control Panel from the Apple menu. 2. Click on DC Printer. 3. Select your printer and printer port as before with the old Choose Printer command. 4. Click in the Close Box in the upper left corner of the Control Panel to end your selection. 5. Important: You MUST go to the Control Panel and select DC Printer before printing with BeagleWrite GS. If you don't use the Control Panel to choose your printer first, BeagleWrite GS will not print anything when you use the Print command. You need to choose your printer using the Control Panel only once per session. o. The ImageWr.BW print driver is no longer needed in the new version of GS/OS. Use the ImageWriter driver. In the Print dialog box, choose "Better Text" for black & white printing; "Better Color" for color printing. When printing in color, be sure to check the "Color" box in the Print dialog box. o. HARD DISK USERS: There is a problem in the Spelling Checker. It does not allow you to use the dictionaries on a hard disk. The Spelling Checker will still work when run from a hard disk, though you will need to place the 3.5" Utilities disk in the disk drive before using the Spelling Checker command. Sorry. We are working on a fix.
