Lost Dutchman, Version 2.1 1997 File: LOSTDM21.SHK type $E0 (.SHK) length 15244 Use ShrinkIt or GS-ShrinkIt to unpack Date: 8/23/97 Note: v2.1 replaces v2.0. V2.1 adds a better 'Help' clue for the maze, shows a better exit display, ... No significant bugs were found/repaired in v2.0. In this Text Adventure your goal is to find the fabled "Lost Dutchman" mine and collect treasures. According to an in-program blurb, it is a "Rider Fantasy Creations" game. A REM says it was "contributed by Jerry Ficke". Version 2 includes new patches. Mainly, these fix a bug in scoring, eliminate dependency upon saving games to a specific folder, and supply an escape for a maze trap in the mine. The program runs under ProDOS or DOS 3.3 on any 64k Apple II. It launches fine from the GS/OS Finder, as well. (Under DOS 3.3, be sure to type in CATALOG, instead of CAT, if you want to view file names when deciding which SAVED GAME to restore.) Lost Dutchman is a fun-to-play example of what can be achieved with BASIC on a small-memory machine. The .SHK file includes the program (LOST.DUTCHMAN2) and an information file (LD2INFO.TXT). The info file supplies tips for mapping and play as well as a game "map" and vocabulary listing. Rubywand, 1997
