Sadly, Rob and I have had no time to work on this since last April, so a few bugs remain in what is being posted here. This posting contains the Desktop Utilities kernel and four modules: NDA Interface, Virtual DA Manager, Menu Bar Manager and Clock Manager. Programmer documentation is also included, to explain how to write your own modules, how to interface with the existing modules and how to use the powerful programming tools built into the kernel. About the modules: the NDA Interface provides a user interface, in the form of an NDA, for accessing Desktop Utilities functions. The Virtual DA Manager is perhaps the most useful module, allowing CDAs and NDAs to be made 'virtual' so that they do not take up valuable RAM space when they aren't being used. The Menu Bar Manager and Clock Manager work together to provide a menu bar clock which can be changed to display the date, free memory or mouse coordinates via a pop-up menu. Other modules can use the Menu Bar Manager to create objects in the menu bar which can be moved to any position on the menu bar or onto the desktop. See the 'About.DTUtils4' file for more information. The posting is in the usual form of a ShrinkIt archive encoded using BinSCII. Desktop Utilities 4.0 requires a IIgs and System 6.0 or later.
