The "DB" naming convention won out for standard usage. If Radio Shack doesn't make a distinction between DB, DE and whatever other styles, I don't have to either.) I think the cable should be wired as follows: DB-23 DB-15 pin 3 ------ pin 2 (analog red) pin 4 ------ pin 5 (analog green) pin 5 ------ pin 9 (analog blue) pin 10 ----- pin 3 (composite sync) pin 16 ----- pin 1 (ground, red?) pin 17 ----- pin 6 (ground, green?) pin 18 ----- pin 13 (ground, blue?) It's the Amiga side I'm not sure about. In all the pinouts I've seen for Amiga 23-pin video connectors, pins 16-20 are only labelled "ground", never "red ground", etc, whereas they're explicitly labelled in the IIgs pinouts. I was looking into all this to evaluate whether an Amiga scan doubler could be used on a IIgs. Software Hut has told me that a hardware redesign would be needed to make the ToastScan work in such a configuration, but I think that was said more because they weren't familiary with IIgs video and didn't care to be, either. I still believe it would be possible out-of-the-box, given the proper adapter and/or cable. If you're an Amiga guy and have a scan doubler laying around and then get around to building this cable, pretty please with et cetera on top let us all know how that works out for you. There's been talk of using the Amiga scan doublers for a long time, and while I've never seen anyone offer an reason why that setup wouldn't work, I've also never seen anyone actually try using an Amiga scan doubler, either. You should find that the 1080 has similar signals, possible with a different pinout on the back of the monitor. There are plenty of hardware guides that cover the 1080 to be found on any AMINET site. Here is a copy of the post I made several years ago re: 1084 on the IIgs: Hi All. The CSA faq's contain some info on using a 1084d monitor (the one with a 9 pin d connector) with the IIgs but make no mention of the earlier and more commonplace 1084. The earlier 1084 has no composite SYNC input on the 6 pin Din Analog input, only seperate HSYNC and VSYNC inputs. Internally the HSYNC and VSYNC signals are just joined together through a couple of 480 Ohm resistors. If you connect the composite SYNC output of the IIgs to either the VSYNC or HSYNC inputs of the 1084 (BUT NOT BOTH!) it works just fine. I used a lead as follows with success: Apple 15D <-> 1084 6Din. (ANALOG) 13 GND 3 2 RED 4 5 GRN 1 9 BLU 5 3 SYNC 2 (HSYNC) Enjoy Leslie
