Tom's question led to checking back through my utility disks from Zip. One is for v1.2 and the other is for v1.3. On both diskettes the zipda CDA has the bug originally identified by Greg Templeton and unearthed recently by you. The easiest way to descriminate v1.2 from v1.3 is file length: zipda v1.2 8045 bytes (bug in rel block 10 starting at byte $0BB) zipda v1.3 8096 bytes (bug in rel block 10 starting at byte $0F0) On both versions, David D. Ely is identified as the programmer. (You can read credits by getting to the ZipDA screen and pressing OpenApple-? .) Greg's patch program seems to have been released in June 1992. The .shk file includes docs which describe the bug and note that it exists in versions 1.2 and 1.3. The docs say that v1.0 does not have the bug and that the status of v1.1 is unknown (because Greg could not find v1.1 to check). I do not know if a v1.4 was ever released. Version 1.3 with the bug patched out seems to work fine. Since Zip Technologies is no longer around, it seemed like a good idea to go ahead and do an update of the v1.3 CDA which includes the fix and credits for the bug patching. The 'new' Zip CDA is available from GS WorldView in Tom's April issue preview at this URL ... http://www.grin.net/~cturley/gsezine/GS.WorldView/v2000/Apr/MiscNew/ . The file is ZipDAv137shk.bin . It unshrinks to ZipDA (and belongs in the System/Desk.Accs/ folder). ZipDA shows up in the main CDA menu as "ZipGS Accelerator". When selected, it shows version number 1.3.7. The new About display deletes out-of-date info (Zip Technology's address and phone number) and uses the space to credit bug fixers (Greg and Charlie). Of course, anyone with a patched v1.3 has the same functionality as v1.3.7. The main advantages of the updated version is that the user can easily tell that it, for sure, has the bug patch and "ZipGS Accelerator" looks a bit spiffier in the CDA menu than the old identifier.
