It has a glitch in the Space combat targetting routine which makes combat a little easier on II+ and other pre-//e models but dooms your efforts otherwise. (For a detailed discussion, search this newsgroup for "Ultima Weirdness".) If the problem is the messed up code on a deprotected disk image, you should be able to fix it using Copy II Plus. Boot Copy II Plus on your emu. 'Insert' the the Ultima I boot disk (.dsk). Select SECTOR EDITOR and go to the drive with the Ultima I boot disk. Once you are in the SECTOR EDITOR, do a Search for this hex code ... 90 0C 47 43. (I found it on Track 14, Sector A.) Go into Hex Edit mode and change the code to ... 90 0C C9 43. Write the changed sector back to disk. The patch should fix the targetting so that getting hits on enemy ships is possible on a //e or //e emu. Rubywand
