The author of Minix is Andrew Tanenbaum, and he recently put Minix under the BSD license. The full source code is available by FTP; see the comp.os.minix FAQ for more information. Another mini-UNIX, Douglas Comer's XINU, was ported to the 8-bit Apple II by Warren Toomey many years ago. I believe you can still download the source code from his FTP site, minnie.cs.adfa.oz.au. As it was a personal project, documentation is sparse. His Apple II was actually a clone with some peculiar characteristics, which adds to the difficulty. Paul Guertin pg@sff.net
