OK, some of the information you've been given is just plain wrong, so to clarify: All versions of ProDOS require 64KB (1), no version requires more than this. Some people say that ProDOS 2.0 requires 128KB, most likely because the utilities that came with it required 128KB, but ProDOS 2.0 itself only needs 64KB. All versions from 1.0 to 1.9 will run on any Apple II (2), including the original Apple II, the II+, any version of the IIe, IIc and IIGS. ProDOS 2.0 and later require an Apple II with a 65C02 processor. There is no other new requirement, so it will still run even on an original Apple II as long as it has had the 6502 CPU replaced with a 65C02. (1) Except ProDOS 1.0 which would boot on a 48KB II or II+, but you couldn't run BASIC, and Apple dropped support for 48KB computers with ProDOS 1.1. (2) ProDOS 1.3 accidentally included a 65C02 instruction in it which could damage disks if run on a computer with a 6502 CPU. -- Roger Johnstone, Invercargill, New Zealand http://vintageware.orcon.net.nz/ ________________________________________________________________________ No Silicon Heaven?
