That gets around all the usual difficulties with AppleTalk on a ROM 01 except the the obvious problem of noplace to connect the LocalTalk cable because the modem and printer are in the way. So use an Appletalk printer and connect AppleTalk to the Printer Port (meaning Slot 1 has to be set to "Your Card".) --Dave Althoff, ][. -- /X\ _ _ *** Closed for the season. *** /XXX\ /X\ /X\_ _ /X\__ _ _ _____ /XXXXX\ /XXX\ _/XXXX\_ /X\ /XXXXX\ /X\ /X\ /XXXXX _/XXXXXXX\__/XXXXX\/XXXXXXXX\_/XXX\_/XXXXXXX\__/XXX\_/XXX\_/\_/XXXXXX Michael Maginnis (michaelmaginnis@yahoo.com) wrote: : Since I mentioned this in a previous post, it's eating at me and I have : to know. I have a FocusDrive mounted in my IIgs in Slot 6 (set to "Your : Card") and start up is set to that slot as well. I seem to recall : reading somewhere that a IIgs will automatically try to boot from a : 5.25" drive if it finds one attached. Put your Focus in Slot 7, chain the floppies off the SmartPort, and you'll have Focus in 7, 5.25 in 6, and 3.5 in 5. If you have a ROM 01 and you are using AppleTalk, put the Focus in Slot 1 (if you are AppleTalking over the printer port) or Slot 2 (if you are AppleTaking over the modem port) and set your startup slot to wherever you put the Focus unless you want to boot from the floppies. If you have a ROM 03, put the Focus in Slot 7. If you want to switch off which drive you boot from, find a program called ProBoot...I want to say it's one of Sheppy's creations but I am not sure right now. I tried it, but discovered that if I really wanted to boot from a floppy it was just as easy to hit RESET a couple of times and do a PR#n. --Dave Althoff, ][. -- /X\ _ _ *** Closed for the season. *** /XXX\ /X\ /X\_ _ /X\__ _ _ _____ /XXXXX\ /XXX\ _/XXXX\_ /X\ /XXXXX\ /X\ /X\ /XXXXX _/XXXXXXX\__/XXXXX\/XXXXXXXX\_/XXX\_/XXXXXXX\__/XXX\_/XXX\_/\_/XXXXXX
