Sounds like DOS (ProDOS?) is getting mangled. The Mantra of "Save Early, Save Often" can certainly be a blessing here. As for pulling apart the //c, here's what I do (having done this about 8 times in the last week to fix up a bum system): - Flip unit over. - Remove the 4 screws directly under the keyboard. - Remove the 2 screws at the back (by the handle). - Remove the 4 disk drive screws also if you plan on taking the entire thing apart. - Flip upright again & look at the back of the box. - Gently pry apart the top of the case from the bottom with your fingers -- just a bit. - When you can, pry off the BACK plate first, starting at the ends and working towards the middle. - Once the entire backplate is off, spin the unit around (so you face the keyboard now), and pry up the rest of the case. The front has a small lip/clip on it, so you need to slide the cover away from you slightly while you life the back. This removes the cover. If you removed the drive screws as well, you can then lift up slightly on the keyboard & pull it towards you (gently, those are some old cables) so that it disengages from the disk drive, then you can flip the DD over towards the back of the unit to get IT out of the way...
