Well....Hello again. It seems that things are no always as easy as one would like them to be!! So... I need of your help again. Besides the pin to pin table Wayne gave me to build the cable, I've searched for some extra info on the net and I've found other people's tables, but I've found some discrepancies regarding to the voltage lines.. Here are them, where Table 1 is Wayne's, Table 2 is from a post on this newsgroup back on 9 Feb 92 and Table 3 from another post on 28 Mar 95 Table 1 Table 2 Table 3 =========== =========== =========== 20p 19p 20p 19p 20p 19p --- --- --- --- --- --- 1 ----- 1 1 ----- 1 1 ----- 1 GND 2 ----- 11 2 ----- 11 2 ----- 11 PHASE A 3 ----- 2 3 ----- 2 3 ----- 2 GND 4 ----- 12 4 ----- 12 4 ----- 12 PHASE B 5 ----- 3 5 ----- 3 5 ----- 3 GND 6 ----- 13 6 ----- 13 6 ----- 13 PHASE C 7 ----- 4 7 ----- 4 7 ----- 4 GND 8 ----- 14 8 ----- 14 8 ----- 14 PHASE D 9 ----- 5 9 ----- 5 9 ----- 5 -12V 10 ----- 15 10 ----- 15 10 ----- 15 WRITE REQ 11 ----- 6 11 ----- 6 11 ----- 6 +5V DIF!!> 12 ----- n/c 12 ----- 6 12 ----- 16 ## +5V DB19-pin16= n/c 13 ----- 7 13 ----- 7 13 ----- 7 +12V 14 ----- 17 14 ----- 17 14 ----- 17 DRIVE ENBL (Drive One) DIF!!> 15 ----- 8 15 ----- 7 15 ----- 8 ## All= +12V 16 ----- 18 16 ----- 18 16 ----- 18 READ DATA DIF!!> 17 ----- 9 17 ----- 8 n/c ## IDC20-pin17= +12V DB19-pin9= Drive2 DB19-pin8= +12v 18 ----- 19 18 ----- 19 18 ----- 19 WRITE DATA DIF!!> 19 ----- n/c 19 ----- 8 n/c +12V 20 ----- 10 20 ----- 10 20 ----- 10 WRITE PROTECT DIF??> n/c----- 16 n/c----- 16 ??? DB19-pin16= n/c So, I'm not sure how exactly build my cable, and since the discrepances here are with Voltage lines, I'm afraid to end with a //c and a Drive ][ both fried like eggs, and remember how difficult to find these machines are here in Argentina! So here comes another question: why the IDC has four pins with +12v: are they for different purposes? Or it's just the same if I connect the +12V pin on the DB 19 (pin 7) to any +12V pin on the IDC 20 (pins 13, 15, 17 and 19)??? Does the drive ][ need to recive +12v through each of these pins??? And finnally, on TABLE 3, IDC20-pin12 <-----> DB19-pin16, should be a typing mistake... what do you think? Thanks again. Seba
