-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi all, If you have played Ultima II off the disk images flying around on the net, and if you have had the problem that you can never increase your "strength" attribute after the game has begun, even though the other five attributes do go up --- do not despair, here is the solution. I do not know if all, some, or none of the original disks are affected by this. If they are, the fix might work for them too. The fix is NOT intend for the re-release version of Ultima II that has the blue border around the map and that uses lower case letters. Use it only for the old original version (no border, upper case only), and use it only if the bytes that you change do have the correct original value. Here is the fix: On the first disk side (Program Disk, the one you boot), in Track $6, Sector $F, bytes $4F and $5E have to be changed. They are currently at $15. Change both to $14 and the problem will be gone. If you patch the disk image on the PC (dos order or prodos order shouldn't matter in this case), change the two bytes numbered 0x6f4f and 0x6f5a, changing them both from 0x15 to 0x14. That's all. Oh and I will not tell you what you must do in the game to increase attributes... that is for you to find out by yourself. As there are only a few secrets and puzzles in this game, a little spoiling will spoil a lot, so you'd better play it without reading any hints! I'll upload a fixed disk image to Asimov as well. - -- Linards Ticmanis / Finire Dragon UDIC The Master said, "The business of laying on the colors follows the preparation of the plain ground." -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAjzKL/cACgkQpXWZ5wbYWbqy8QCgjxRDYIkfm+/oB+cCUM/v0Y4h OygAoLB9B6GEgCni2xQ3aVRRKW+McF0y =fYRm -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
