It turns out the image (which seems to be a good crack) needs to be in .nib form. As a .dsk, all volume numbering info is lost. Checked info about QOP in Computist issues. In #35, Steve and Rod Smith describe the Dav Holle protection scheme used by Phoenix and Penguin for QOP, Masguerade, and other products. They describe a deprotection method and mention that the final step needs to be setting disk volume number to zero (which you can do using Bag of Tricks). If you take the QOP .dsk and copy it to a .nib (using, say, Disk Muncher), you can use Bag of Tricks to set the VN to zero on the .nib and have a copy of Queen of Phobos you can run on emus like AppleWin. Pretty neat when stuff like that works. For sure, whoever did the crack is the one who did the real work; and, the uploader to Asimov deserves credit for supplying a good copy in the .dsk image. The .nib Queen of Phobos is in QueenOfPhobos.zip on GS WorldView's archive at http://apple2.org.za/gswv/a2zine/Games/ . (Will upload a copy to Asimov once it's back on-line.) The .zip file also contains an .sdk ShrinkIt copy of the game for users who want to transfer it to a real Apple II. Rubywand
