The only printer I've used on AppleTalk was a networked ImageWriter II. There was no Mac involved. I don't remember whether I ever tried printing from the workstation card, but I expect I did just to see how it worked. > I have an Apple Workstation card in an enhanced IIe. You definitely don't need a Mac to act as a server. If you are running the AppleShare Server software (with print server) it lets the Mac act as a buffer and scheduler for the printer. The print server operates by renaming the printer so that workstations cannot see it, and then advertises the server as if it is the printer, capturing all incoming data and forwarding it to the real printer. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz
