This sub-archive was created because there is a massive lack of software for
the Apple II gs. The purpose is to encourage shareware programmers to make new
programs with the provided utilities. Another purpose is to attract Apple
IIgs users and bring them back to their machine - it's a fine computer!

This sub-archive is the only major Apple IIgs site east of the Atlantic ocean.
Since long-distance FTP transfer is quite annoying, european IIgs users may be
quite delighted. The programs here are usually packed with ShrinkItGS (GSHK)
which can be found in gs/utils/archivers. Other servers may use different
archivers, see the file gs/info/about/archivers for more info.

The files usually come enclosed in a single folder, so you may easily unshrink
them to your hard disk. If you want to install the files on disks, it may be
appropriate to copy the files to the top level of the disk and rename the disk
according to the name of the folder which has contained them.

Transfer from MS-DOS to IIgs PRODOS can be made with a PC transporter, a super
drive with MS-DOS FST or on a Mac, using a file converter. System 6 owners
may access HFS disks from the Mac, too.
