In the last few months, I've have learned more about our fragile planet than I have in my entire life. I've learned that man is treating his only planet as if it were disposable. Obviously it's not. A new livable planet is not just going to pop up for us to move too. The damage that we are doing to our planet is probably going to be irreversible. The future generations will most likely live life "different" than all of the previous generations. There are so many problems out there that need to be solved...Pollution (aca Green House) , the holes in the ozone layer, the depletion of the last rain forests, the over flowing land fills with non-degradable substances, and the dozen oil spills this year alone. It seems overwhelming and that we as little individuals have no say or control of our own planet or whats being done to it. However, thats not always true. There are lots of little things that everyone can do to help out good old Mother Earth. Like recycle glass and aluminum. Try to cut back on non biodegradable products like plastic. I know it's hard since everything in today's world is plastic, but until recycling plastic becomes practical, something needs to be done. Our landfills and oceans with plastic in them now, are going to have that same plastic in them hundreds of years from now. Biodegrable plastic does exist, but it isn't being used much since there isn't much demand for it. There are also organizations that can be joined. Green Peace happens to be a great organization that brings the destruction of nature by man to the publics attention. We can also write letters to our government demanding better pollution control. Finally, though, we do have a president that is in support of the environment. In case everyone missed it, Bush is demanding that new fuels and engines be created for cars that create less pollution. After all the car is the main cause of our pollution today. OK, I'm getting off of my soap box now. All this "Earth Thought" gave me the idea to create a new trash can for the GS finder. It's an Earth that is blue and green when empty but brown and dead when full of trash. To use it you need to use an icon editor to replace the existing trash icons in the file FINDER.ICONS in the ICONS folder of a system disk. You can't just drop it in the folder and expect it to work, since there would be more than one icon for empty trash and full trash. Oh, and it's been packed with BINSCII and SHRINKIT. Have fun with it and rememeber to take care of the Earth before She takes care of us!
