9/27/2000 The current status of Dueltris is still shareware...although you may very likely be unable to reach the authors at this point in time to send in your shareware fee - to officially register the game with the author and Dreamworld. They no longer exist as such. The Dueltris IIgs game may soon be available as a freeware from this folder....stay tuned as things develop with this effort. Pending this...you can always download it from the following URLšs: http://tarnover.dyndns.org/Games/Dueltris.v10s/DTrisv1.0s.SHK or http://tarnover.dyndns.org/Games/DuelTris.SDK -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Herešs some info from the original comp.sys.Apple2.Binaries NG post from the main programmer and author - Steven T Chiang - Read below: Newsgroups: comp.binaries.apple2 Path: icaen!news.uiowa.edu!hobbes.physics.uiowa.edu! zaphod.mps.ohio-state.edu!usc!sol.ctr.columbia.edu! news.columbia.edu!cunixb.cc.columbia.edu!stc7 From: stc7@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu (Steven T Chiang) Subject: DuelTris v1.0s part 0/7 (repost!) The first version I posted had a munged resource fork, which would cause the program to hang at the About screen. --- If you love your GS, you will download this program. DreamWorld presents... This is DuelTris (tm) v1.0s. DuelTris is a two player head-to-head tetris-like game, which features incredible graphics and sound. It is not DuoTris, which was part of the GS<>IRC demo. DuelTris is not your regular *Tris clone. It features 2 player simultaneous play, the DuelLINK (tm), and six different special pieces. When DuelLINK is turned on, whenever one player makes 2-4 lines, they are automatically passed to the other player, and vice versa. The six special pieces have a variety of functions, gun, fill gun, bomb, anvil, inverse other person's controls, etc. DuelTris has some of the best 16 and 256 color art I've seen, drawn by David Seah and has great music composed by James Brookes. Technically, DuelTris is up to par. It uses stack scrolls, compiled shapes, computer logic, sound effects as well as music, etc. DuelTris is shareware. For $15 you can register DuelTris, and you will be entitled to future updates. For $20 you will receive DuelTris: The Limited Edition Boxed Set... which includes the registered version of DuelTris, a CD like jewel case for 3.5" w/ a full color insert, and a printed reference. BTW - this version of DuelTris is fully functional, except you cannot save preferences or high scores. The registered version will allow you to save both. DuelTris requires an Apple IIGS w/ 1 meg of ram, System 5.04 or above, and 1 3.5" disk drive. Speakers and a stereo card are optional, but a nice addition. Questions, comments, send them to me... Steve Chiang stc7@cunixb.cc.columbia.edu --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cheers & Enjoy! Tom
