MICRO.SYSTEM MICRO.SYSTEM is what I call a GS/OS boot disk that automatically installs ACER with as much free memory as possible. With 1.2 Meg Ram MICRO.SYSTEM will leave over 900K of memory available to uncompress those large sound files. To create MICRO.SYSTEM do the following: 1. Format a blank disk and label it as MICRO.SYSTEM (or anything you desire). 2. Copy PRODOS and the SYSTEM folder from a GS/OS 4.0 disk to the newly formatted disk. (System 5.0 will also work but leaves less free memory than 4.0 and the speed difference is not noticable). 3. Copy ACER to the SYSTEM folder on the new disk. Do the following within the SYSTEM folder on the newly formatted disk: 1. Delete all desk accessories within the DESK.ACC folder so that you have an empty DESK.ACC folder. 2. Delete all fonts in the FONT folder, leaving an empty FONT folder. 3. Delete all but essential drivers in the DRIVER folder. (I left only the 3.5, SCSI, and CONSOLE drivers). 4. Delete START and rename ACER to START. Boot the new disk and ACER is automatically installed as the start file then go to the control panel to see how much free memory RAM says you have. All sound files that suggest using MICRO.SYS.SHK will allow ACER to uncompress them using this method if the suggested memory is on board. There are probably some files within the SYSTEM.SETUP and TOOLS that may also be deleted to make more space available yet, however I don't suggest you try this unless you are really sure which ones can be removed safely and still allow ACER to read, (un)compress, play, and save the files.
