KEGS is an Apple //gs emulator for Unix, OS/2, and Linux. It runs on HPUX workstations, x86/IA64/PowerPC Linux, Solaris and OS/2. All source code is always available on the web site. Note that an Apple //gs can run virtually every Apple //e and Apple ][ program, and so KEGS can, too. Many people used their //gs'es as fast Apple //e's, and now you can use your //gs emulator as a fast //e, too. KEGS' default web site, http://www.crosswinds.net/san-jose/~kentd/kegs/, is always acting flaky, so a second, backup web site is available at: http://www.psn.net/~kentd/kegs/. Notable changes in KEGS v0.59 since v0.57: - Fixed some bugs in memory bankswitching introduced in the new 0.57 code. - Fixed colors under X windows with 15 and 16-bit visuals. (Four people sent me fixes for this problem--thanks!) - Fixed code so it should compile and run on machines with 64-bit pointers. Tested on IA64 Linux. - Added support for sysadmins to put "static" configuration files in known places where KEGS looks, so each user doesn't need to have font.65sim, ROM, etc. in the directory they run KEGS from. Unfortunately, there's no documentation on how this works yet... - Added support for loading a standard Apple II disk controller ROM into slot 6, for improved compatability with some Apple //e and II+ games. Some games expect some "entry" points in $c6xx which the Apple //gs ROM does not have. KEGS is still probably the most accurate Apple //gs emulator on any platform, and the fastest portable emulator.
