Finally! I have finally found an image of South Pacific Quest for the Apple 2. This was one of my all time favorite games. This image originally came from http://ground.icaen.uiowa.edu/apple2/Collections/AOL/Games/Arcadia/AAAArcINDEX.txt and thanks to Google (searching on "south pacific quest") I was able to find it. I converted it with nulib (http://www.nulib.com/) from the spquest.shk file. Then I gave it a .dsk suffix so I could run it with emulators. Only after trying it with EVERY apple2 emulator for the pc that I could think of I was finally able to get it to run with AppleWin. However, there was a bug in the joystick handling in AppleWin that doesn't let you jump off of a rope to the right, making it impossible to finish any of the levels. After umpteen fruitless tries, I was able to get it to run under ApplePC by selecting ProDos order for the spquest.dsk file. So I renamed the spquest.dsk file to "spquest.po" Using AppleWin and disk muncher I converted the spquest.po (which was in prodos format) by copying into a fresh spquest.dsk image. And it should work! Happy gaming! If you can't get the joystick to work right in applePC, make short movements in the calibration instead of pushing it to the edges. Keep trying, it took me awhile to get the joystick just right. Many thanks to Peter Ward for an awesome game.
