Let's Begin: To really understand the game, you may want to watch the intoduction, it gives some intro stuff that I like watching to understand what I'm trying to accomplish. It's also nice to watch but runs about 10-20 minutes.. Well, Let's start with Cedric's (the owl) advice, Head south 2 boards past the board with the snake to the city, place your walking cursor in the middle of the buildings to enter the city. There's some things going on in here, if you want, talk to the person trying to fix the wagon (use the talk icon and place it on him). Now go into one of the 3 shops, it doesn't matter which one. Now leave the store you cannot do anyhting. Look over to where the person fixing the wagon was, suprise what's that on the ground? Pick up the shining Silver coin (use the hand icon) and then open the barrel (it's a little hard to see, it's just to the left of the wagon). get the dead fish from inside (Hand icon for both). Now that's all that we have items to work with in the city so off to check out the area. Now that your back by your owl, head west 1 board to the bakery, go into the bake house and purchase a pie for 1 silver coin (to pay the person, go into your inventory, select the coin and place it on top of the person to give the coin to). ok were done here so leave the store. Head west 2 more screens, don't worry about the inn, we'll use it later.. Don't worry about the bear it wont hit you unless you get to close, Use the fish and throw it to him (selection fish from inventory and place icon on bear). After you talk with the King Bee, walk up to the tree and get the honeycomb out (use the hand icon to get honey [this is the last of the icon helps, I think you should get how to use the new interface by now]). ok, before you walk away from the tree, pick up the branch that is laying on the ground. Head north, Wow! That's a BIG ant farm! To get the dog away, throw him the stick. The ants say the will repay you, (Don't worry they will).. that's it for this board. There's more around the area if you want to check out the place go ahead, for now let's back track and use some the the stuff we recently picked up. Go east one board (talk to the gnomes if you want) and then south back to the Inn, ok, now look in the haystack (hand icon I think, it may be the eyeball). hey, what's the ants doing? Well take the golden needle they give (your forced) and lets head to town. Go east 2 boards and enter the city, head to the tailors (shop on the left of the 3) and give him the needle, Gee thanks, a Cloak for us?? ok, were done here. lets head towards the desert! (you've now seen the first half of the "forest" or starting land of the game) now lets go into the second. Desert: From the Bees (leave city and head 3 west). Now go west 5 screens to Oasis #1, Take a drink (use hand icon). Now go west 2 screens and then south 1 screens to the skeleton, pick up the old boot and go south 2 screens to oasis #2, take a drink. Go south 1 more and then west until you reach the bandits camp (don't worry it's empty now), take a drink from the juq in the center.... now head back to oasis #1 (follow steps backwords and don't forget to drink).. From here you visit the temple. Head north 2 screens to the cliff, head along the cliff west 3 screens, yu chould see an opening, and a small pool, take a drink. Now there are some rocks sticking up on this board, hide behind the left one (completely, dont let anything stick out).. your going to have to me REAL cafefull doing this.. you want to be on the board with the pool not the temple, hang out there and eventually you will hear hoofs, just watch since you have to go through this, ok now that there gone, lets go back to the bandits camp, you may need another drink now, you might as well drink from the pool. Head east 1 board and then south, I think it's 4-6 south, You should come up to oasis #2 just in time to drink before you die, if you keep missing it, restore your game and take it to oasis #1 first and then head to the bandits camp from there. If your not there already, head to bandits camp, south 1 and west 3 or 4. Hey there's people here now, take another drink from the jug and then go into te small tent.. Here's the copy protection part, take the 4 symbols and find them in the manual (somewhere along the top of the pages), as you find each one, highlight the letter, be careful it's hard to tell some the of symbols on the book, you will probably get it wrong at first.. Ok, once in, SAVE THE GAME, if you dont save anywhere else, do so here! ok, now walk around the person sleeping and get the staff. now carefully go around (use the walk icon on the right side of the tent and after you get there go to the door or you bump into the sleeper and wake him!).. ok drink again and head back to the temple (remember to drink). Now at temple drink from pool and head north to the temple screen. save the game here to, this is fast moving, use the staff and hit the door.. once in you want to get the brass pot to the right of the door and the coin shining on the floor and then get out before the door closes! once you do that, head back for the bees (east from oasis #1).. Ok that's EVERYTHING to do in the desert!... Now lets defeat the witch! Witch's forest: Before we go into the forest, we must see the fortune teller, head north 2 boards and enter the wagon, when the guy stops you, give him the gold coin. once in you will finally understand the intro better.. If you didn't play any previous King's Quest games, in King's Quest 3, you played Graham's son and defeated Manannan the wizard and the first part of the game and then headed to find out that you were king graham's son but that's another game. ok, now that your done, head to the forest, it's 2 boards east, talk to the tree if you want (it'll help you understand the forest better).. Ok, now that your at the forest entrance, you might as well save the game. since the witch can pop up anywhere, here's what you do when you find her, the fortune tellers gift will protect you and then give her the brass pot (bottle, whatever) that you got from the temple and she will be greedy, sit back and enjoy! Before you enter, put on the Amulet (or whatever the fortune teller gave you I cannot remember the name). now enter the forest.. Ok take west path.. follow the path.. when you reach the board where the path turns right, go one more screen and then north to the house (you should have defeated the witch by now!) go into her house and get the following: Bag from the drawers on the left, spinning wheel in the chest in the back and the key from the hangin lantern (use hand icons)... That's all for her house, after leaving, go 1 board east to the tree with the door in it, ok, use the lantern key to open the door and get the gold heart from inside it. Ok, if you walk around you will see that you apprently lost your way and need help.. go to the board 1 west from the witches house (where the path turned right before) and squeeze the honey onto the ground, now look into the pouch (I think you use the inventory and then the hand or the eye to look in the pouch) once you see the emeralds, drop them into the honey, it'll take 3 tries before you get it right, follow the little guy out and before you get completely out, he'll give you a gift of shoes... ok, now that your out of the forest, save the game again, and this ends the witches forest part!) now lets finish the starting forest part... Forest [starting land]: Start off by head west 1 board. Give the tree the Golden heart, and take the harp after she drops it. Now go south one board and give the gnome the spinning wheel. Now go south one board and east to the bake shop. As you walk off the board to the east, the cat will start to chase the mouse, Throw the Old shoe from the skeleton at him and you will befriend the mouse (I recommend saving because it is fast moving) If the cat doesn't come outm, your walking off the sidewalk. Now head east into the city and give the shoemaker the part of shoes from the little guy in the forest and then give the toymaker the marionette from the gnome. Now off to the inn, Go west 2 boards and enter the Inn, walk towards the guys and they will hit you over the head, Don't worry this is suppose to happen, if you brefriend the mouse, he'll help you out. After the mouse eats through the ropes, get the rope and use the hammer from the shoemaker to break open the door, In the kitchen get the Lamb from the cubard and leave towards the left door (Sneak out). One more thing and were done with this part, head to the Gypsy's camp that's 1 west 2 north, and get the tamborine left behind. Now head to the snake, that's 2 east and 1 south, and shake the tamborine at the snake. the snake leaves and it's time to head on.. Save here and now were finally done with the [forest] part]... Snowy mountain pass: Ok, Kiss the land goodbye, Lets get going: Ok, Head up the path where the snake was, put on your cloak when the game says your cold. Follow the path until you come up to the point where you cannot go without dying, If you have to eat, take a bite out of the Lamb.. now if you lookl towards the top of the screen you'll see a tree.. Just to the right of the tree is a little bit of rock stiking out, you want to throw the rope to there and climb up.. Leave the rope behind.. this part is kinda tricky, Save the game.. If you look along the back of the screen you'll see pieces of rock sticking out.. You need to hop on the back ones, move carefully to the towards the edge of the cliff and use the hand icon to do the jumping... now that your on the other side, cross the log and head on.. Don't worry about the Wolf that just grabbed Crispin, its suppose to happen, use the sled and follow them done the mountain.. ok, now that the sled broke, head east 1 board and then give the Eagle the other half of the Lamb. If you didn't eat, feed yourself first and then give it to him.. No head towards the cave in the back of the screen.. When the "witch" tells her wolf to attack, play the harp.. She'll then stop and you can journey on.. After you enter the crystal cave and the Yeti starts for you, Throw the Pie in his face... ok, after he falls off, enter the back cavern and use the hammer to break off the one crystal near the back... (don't worry, theres only one the game should direct you to it) Ok head back to the wolf and then you can get your owl back... Now that the wolf has brought you to the same board head South and then you can leave.. Ok, fgo through the board and you should be taken by some flying 2 headed creature.. After it drops you off, pick up the shining object and then sit back and wait for the hawk to save you.... this is the end of this part of the game.. off to the rest... The Beach, Hermit and Harpies: at the start of the beach, pick up the crowbar on the sand.. Head north 1 board.. walk near the boat and look in.. use the beeswax left over from the honeycomb to plug the hole.. now enter the boat and sail away (copy protection time again!).. I forgot the exact way to the island but head 3 south and 2 east (or something similar, there are nice sea sea creatures there to eat you if you go the wrong way!).. Once on the island, let the harpies take you.. Now play the harp for them! ok, when they leave, pick up the fish hook shining on the ground and then head west.. pick up your dieing owl and head west again.. now BEFORE you touch the boat, pick up the shining shell and then head back.. this time head west 2 and north 1 board and you should end up back at the first beach but at the hermits house!.. Ring the bell and when the hermit comes out give him the shell you just picked up.. your basically done with this part.. Just follow the mermaid to the last 2 parts of the game. Mordack's castle: before going anywhere, pick up the fish.. now head north to the cobras.. when there, use the Crystal from the Crystal caves to get past here... ok, now that your at the drawbridge type thing. head down the little path to the west of it.. head around the castle to the west until you come up to the grating.. Ok, use the crowbar to enter the castle.. now that you in the labyrinth, theres 2 things down here, A dink and a locked door.. find the dink and give him the tamborine, when he dances, a hairpin will fall outm use the hairpin to get through the locked door.. If unsure which direction your going, use the eye icon and click in the dark border (there, now you know what they meant in the readme file!).. Once through the door, get the bag of peas from the cubbard and enter the kitchen.. give the lady there the necklace (locket) you picked up from the nest of the big 2 headed bird! ok, head east and don't go to close to the piano or it starts playing.. head into the dinning room (east) and then south, Let the henchmen take you.. once in the cell, use the fish hook and get the piece of moldy cheese out of the mouse hole.. At this time, your new friend from the kitchen should help you out.. to find the door again, keep up with her and she will bring you directly to there!.. Ok, head around the dinning room and this time when the henchmen comes, quickly throw the bag of peas at him (you need to be quick on this one). I recommend saving you come up to him.. ok, now follow the castle around and head upstairs.. once upstairs, head west into his mordack's bedroom. if theres a cat in there throw him the fish you picked up when you first reached the castle! Now head south into his library.. look at the open book on the table.. hang out in the library until you see mordack go to sleep, at that point head north, take his want from the table and head east 2 boards.. ok, once in his labratory, go to the machine on the upper part on the right side.. Place his wand, your wand (the one from the intro) into the machine.. now after both are in, place the moldy cheese into the machine!. After it finishes, take your wand (now energized) from the right side of the machine! this is this part, off to the ending! Defeating Mordack: After Mordack enters the room and creams your owl then cames to a dragonfly, use the wand (your wand) and place it on him.. a box of 4 spells will come up... he will change into several things in the ending so use them in the following order: 4-2-1-3.. Now your done, sit back and enjoy the ending..
