Description for the enclosed Tape Drive Icons. 15-JUL-91 (this is the SAME as the "Tape.Docs" file thats in AWP format) The icon titled "Tape.3M.ICON" is my rendering of a 3M-MCD-40/SCSI tape drive, the "Tape.ICON" is a "generic reel-to-reel" looking ICON. Simply copy the correct one for your system into your ICONS folder (place PRIOR to "Finder.ICONS" in the ICONS folder) I developed these ICONS for my own use as I have a 3M tape drive, and decided it would be neat to have a Tape Icon (instead of a "generic" ICON) when I have my tape drive active. For RamFast users with 3M (and maybe other drives also): 0) Turn on your hard drive(s) (I leave mine on all the time :) 1) Power up the tape drive, then insert the desired tape 2) Wait for the tape to finish its retensioning cycle 3) Turn on your GS and once it comes up go into the RamFast utilities. 4) Click on EDIT (wait for tape activity) 5) Click on your tape entry (left column) 6) Activate the drive (far right column of screen MUST show "Y") 7) Click on Quit (wait for tape activity) 8) Click on the now active tape drive (right column) and then place it in your drives list (left column). 8) Click on SAVE (un needed if you have AUTOSAVE activated in OPTIONS) 9) Click on QUIT (3M MCD-40/SCSI users.......Do NOT remove the tape, unless you want potential problems. Also the ICON will NOT disapear from my desktop if the tape is removed, and it can not be ejected via the trash can. (it is treated as a "fixed disk" by GS/OS 5.04) You should return to the Finder at this point (at least I do :) CAVET: Once you have "enabled" the tape drive (so that it is an active SCSI device) EVERY time you re-enter the Finder, or a program does a "device available scan" there will be a delay as the tape is interogated. This CAN take a bit of time. Programs Used in development: 10 sec timed SHR save CDA (to capture the SynthLAB screen) SHRConvert to display the captured SynthLAB screen INSTANT ICON to clip the "Reel-to-Reel" button from within SHRConvert DiCed and IconEd to redraw & modify the Reel-to-Reel ICON DiCed and IconEd were used to create the "3M" ICON from scratch by myself CREDITS: Original Idea: Harold Hislop (CIS: 76517,1552) (AOL: Centaur C) Original Artwork on 3M ICON: Harold Hislop Original Artwork on reel-to-reel ICON: Mark Cecys (clipped from SynthLAB screen, modified sufficently to clear (c) laws :) :) Artwork mods on reel-to-reel ICON: Harold Hislop Feel free to pass these ICONS around, and if anyone improves on them, or comes up with better ones PLEASE e-mail it/them to me on CIS or AOL :) -Harold "MacKiller (tm)" Hislop (CIS UID: 76517,1552) (AOL: Centaur C)
