Fix Font Manager 6.0.1, v2.0 for System 6.0.1 Copyright 1993, Softdisk Publishing All rights reserved Written by Greg Templeman and Nathan Mates *** FREEWARE*** Fix Font Manager 6.0.1 may be distributed freely, as long as this documentation file is included with the program. Fix Font Manager 6.0.1 may NOT be distributed for money or profit without prior consent from Softdisk, Inc. Fix Font Manager 6.0.1, v2.0, supersedes ALL previous versions. The original version of Fix Font Manager 6.0.1 had some problems that could cause other programs not to work correctly. As a result, more than one version of Fix Font Manager 6.0.1 has been distributed, and this has caused confusion. To clear everything up, Softdisk is distributing this new, definitive version. You should replace any earlier versions you may have with Fix Font Manager 6.0.1, v2.0. --------------------------------------- System 6.0.1 has a nasty bug in the "Choose Font" Dialog, one that Pointless users are particularly susceptible to; if the current font does not exist on your system, or you select a font in the Choose Font dialog that has no bitmaps, the computer will lock up, crash, or just plain behave weirdly. Apparently, System 6.0.1 does not check for bitmaps existing, and starts trashing memory. FixFontMgr601 v2.0 fixes the problem. It is a Permanent Initialization File (PIF) that you install on your System Disk. Put it in the System:System.Setup folder, or let the Finder 6.0.1 place it properly for you by dragging it to the System Folder, and reboot your system. Once it is in place, you can forget about it, as it will protect your Choose Font dialogs under System 6.0.1. Hopefully, in the next release of the System Software, this bug will be fixed. If you have a system version other than 6.0.1, FixFontMgr601 will do nothing.
