Beatbox (alpha) is copyrighted (c) 1994, 1995 by Alvin Tan and Brian Ballweber. NOTE: Everything in here is based on the author's (Alvin Tan) opinion, so if you find some stuffs in here to be insulting or disagree with it, who asked you to download it in the first place? The program... -------------- Beatbox is a FREEWARE (for now) MOD/MED editor and player which has been around since Summer 1994 (I'm sure all of you who got it illegally, and I wouldn't mention names, know this) and lately, both the authors have not had much time (or motivation) to go any further with the programming. At this stage, development is at an all time low (zilch), and we are just going to release this latest Alpha version we have and see if there is any interest in seeing it finished (NO WE DO NOT, I REPEAT _DO NOT_ WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU, DR. TOM). Remember that Beatbox still has a LONG way to go and is only in its alpha stages. If we ever finish this program, it would have every feature you would dream of from MED v3.22 to OctaMED 2.0 and Protracker 1.x. What to expect... ----------------- - ROM 03 owners are 'shit-outta-luck' because Beatbox currently will have cursor droppings left and right. Sorry, don't blame me. Apple sucks :) - Beatbox plays the following music formats: - MMD0 (MEDv2.10, OctaMED 2.0+) and MMD1 (MED v3.20, OctaMED Pro) modules. - Protracker, Noisetracker, StarTrekker 4, FastTracker (6 and 8 tracks) and a couple other rare MOD modules. - Soundsmith and Megatracker modules (only in jukebox and NOT complete - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK) - Noisetracker music and module files (only in jukebox and NOT complete - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK) - There is a vibrato glitch in the MOD player which I am too lazy to track down. - The MED player only supports raw Amiga samples and IFF 2-7 octaves instruments right now. It will however load synthetic instruments but will not attempt to play them. By no means is the player complete because it is buggy as hell (especially in the effects). - The MOD player supports all known 28 effects (including DMP's stereo panning, excluding Invert Loop/Funk Repeat which has been disabled because it trashes samples and still sucks) - The MED player supports all the currently defined 32 effects, but since none of which have been debugged fully, be sure to expect lotsa quirkiness. - Lotsa unusual quirks with the jukebox. - The viewers were ONLY designed to play with MOD playback (not jukebox, not MED) - Dunno what keys to press? Look in KEYPRESSES. - For something different, check out the CDA when a MOD is playing. - You can change Beatbox from an EXE to S16 if you wish. No harm done. There are just too many stuffs to list right now and I don't remember them off the back of my head, but I suggest you experiment around and see what happens - like what happens if you quit the program while a song is playing hmmmmm ;) If you have questions, suggestions, comments, bug reports (blah), $MONEY$ (shyeah right) for the authors, just email them to either: corey@drift.winternet.com (Alvin Tan) OR ballweb@csos.orst.edu (Brian Ballweber) P/S: For those of you who stole a copy of an early version of Beatbox last year, I DO know who you guys are, and I hope you rot in hell muahahahahaha! ~r2i}{{"=[32k.=+@#vBrg,p3e2 @! +++ NO CARRIER
