Welcome to Nexus! This version of Nexus allows up to 45 words in any text document to be linked so that when you double click on that word, it will automatically open up another text document. Up to about 1000 such files can be linked. You may also link to graphic files, where up to 16 areas of the graphic may be linked. With this flexibility, the uses are limited only by your imagination! To ADD a link: Select Add from the Link menu or press Open-Apple A. The cursor will change to a box (for text) or a cross-hair (for graphics). For text simply double click on the word to link. In a graphic, press the mouse button down on the upper-left-hand corner and drag to the lower-right-hand corner. Next a standard Open File Dialog box will appear. Simply open the document you wish to add. You may click on "View File" to check the file first. To RETRIEVE a linked file: Simply double-click on the word, or single-click on an area of a graphic. If a file has been previously linked, it will be opened. To SEE the links: Select "Show Links" from the link menu or press Open-Apple L. Doing this again will turn off the display. The links do NOT have to be showing to effect a retrieval. To use the EXPANDED mode: Select "Expanded" from the link menu or press Open-Apple E. (In this mode, words in a document become active if they were linked anywhere in the Nexus set. If the expanded mode is off, only the words specifically linked in the current document will be active. Expanded has no effect on graphics.) To use a DIFFERENT Nexus SET: Select "Switch Nexus set..." from the "Utilities" menu. Choose a new Nexus set by selecting the set-file with the ".NXS" suffix. ----------------------------- This help file is a standard text file, and therefore can be altered by you to suit your purposes. However, it must be named "Nexus.Help" and located in the same folder (directory) as the Nexus (or Nexus.read) program.
