Importing With Babelfish When importing a file an application will typically display the standard Babelfish Òget fileÓ dialog box. You can see this dialog box by choosing ÒConvert FileÓ from the Apple menu. The ÒOnly show recommended choicesÓ option is checked by default, which restricts the file listing to only show files that at least one translator identified as Òvery likely importableÓ. You can show more files by unchecking this option, but they may not be importable. These options are located in the ÒTranslatorÓ area: The translator ranking and name. When a particular file is highlighted, all the translators are asked whether they can import the file. Every translator that answersÊÒyesÓ is displayed on the list of translators, and the list is sorted by the ranking that the translator gave the file. For example, if a Teach file is selected then a ÒTeachÓ translator would be at the top of the list with three solid boxes, while a generic ÒAsciiÓ translator would be on the list with a lower ranking. Click the ÒInfoÓ button to display information about the selected translator. The information usually includes a generic statement that identifies what file format the translator works with and whether the translator can Import and/or Export, followed by specific details about options for importing (if any). Click the ÒOptionsÓ button to display importing options for the selected translator (the button is dim if the selected translator does not have any importing options).
