Ahh, but try the low level formatted Zip disk versus the partitioned one (even if it is just one partition on the Zip disk). Using the HFS FST, at least, the low level formatted (using GS Finder) Zip disk is noticeably faster with data. Also, both formats are not really the same. If you scan the low level formatted (from GS Finder) unpartitioned Zip disk with a hard disk utility, it will report that it is a "single disk without partition table" or something similar. Hrmph...could it be that one of the reason for this is that GS Finder is changing the interleave of the Zip disk?
