Music Studio << I have a copy of Music Studio (version unknown to me at this time), which I would like to run off my SCSI disk. It works fine, sexcept it doesn't make any noise. Not being Beethoven, I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a patch for this? Or is this fundamentally un-doable. I am running a ROM-1 GS with 4 meg. I get the same symptoms with GS/OS 6.01 and 5.04. It works fine off the original floppy, but that OS can't see the SCSI disk. >> If you get the Music Studio splash screen with no version number, it is likely you have one of the earlier ProDOS 16 copies. Maybe this will help: In COMPUTIST #48, Alexis Gehrt suggests some block edits (using Copy II+, Block Warden, etc.) aimed at getting MS to work on a hard disk: Deprotection In block $44D*: change bytes at $0016 from 82 82 00 to EA EA EA. Hard Disk Use Patch In block $44D*: change byte at $000D from 22 to AF. Finally, be sure that the Waves/ folder is in the main directory of the volume. *In COMPUTIST #67, Leigh Rowan-Kelly lists the same mods and notes that, on some diskettes, the block to edit may be $03D instead of $44D. Leigh also lists an alternative Deprotection method: search for 0C 00 C9 00 F0 and change the F0 to 80. This simply hops around the bytes which are changed to EA's in the first method. (Branch if equal becomes Branch always.) No big deal; however, it is a handy way to locate the 'block of interest' where, probably, you will also be able to make the Hard Disk Use Patch to byte $000D. Rubywand
