What are the mods on that one? > ESDOS ][ is a modified version of Beagle's Prontodos and, so, it is much faster than regular DOS 3.3 and allows using the sectors which DOS 3.3 wastes. The mods include ... 1. The current version ESDOS ][ CATALOG shows Vol, number of Tracks, and number of Free Sectors. For example, the CATALOG heading for a typical newly INITed diskette with no HELLO program would be ... ESDOS ][ VOL254 035 TRACKS 511 FREE SECTORS 2. ESDOS ][ fixes a DOS CATALOG bug related to very large files 3. To make it easier to get CATALOG printouts, CATALOG does not automatically pause for a full screen. To stop/start scrolling you press a key. 4. Some DOS error messages are shortened 5. ESDOS ][ permits use of the semi-colon as a trailing wildcard character. For example, LOAD JOY; will try to load the first file it finds in the CATALOG list which has a name beginning with "JOY" (e.g. the file JOYSTICK CHECKER). ESDOS ][ can be found on disk in U4MOCKV2.SHK (the Ultima IV Mockingboard-on-GS stuff) at http://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/2/apple2/Collections/1WSW and http://ground.isca.uiowa.edu/2/apple2/Collections/AOL/Games/Adv./Roleplay Just unShrink U4MOCKV2.SHK; and, then, unShrink U4MB.INST.SDK to 5.25" diskette using ShrinkIt. To create more ESDOS diskettes you can boot the diskette and use the HELLO program's [I]NIT option or exit HELLO and enter the usual INIT command. Rubywand
