AppleWorks J __________________________________________________________________ Lines Wrap in 3-Across Labels __________________________________________________________________ In AppleWorks 3.0, when labels are created in three or more columns, a problem, not common in AppleWorks 2.1, may arise. The symptom: lines wrap within columns. For example: Claris Corporation Beagle Bros. on 6215 Ferris Sq. 5201 Patrick Henry D San Diego, CA 92121 rive Santa Clara, CA 94040 The problem is that when you define three columns, AppleWorks gives each label only one-third the amount of space on the line. For example, you are allowed only 26 characters per label line when you use 10 cpi for three-across labels. Solutions: 1) Use 12- or 17 cpi for 3-across labels. You can have 45 characters per label line when you use 17 cpi on an 8-inch line. 2) Use wider paper (and, of course, a wide carriage printer to accommodate the wider paper). 3) Use fewer columns. 4) Print less data per label, or break up addresses into two or more lines.
