AppleWorks J __________________________________________________________________ Troubleshooting DIF Files __________________________________________________________________ Here are two steps to help determine the source of problems that may occur when DIF files are imported into AppleWorks: 1. Read the ProDOS DIF file into the AppleWorks word processor. Since a DIF file is like an ASCII text file, the word processor should read the information. If the file can't be read due to a disk error or if it hasn't been properly converted to ProDOS, repeat the download or conversion. 2. Once the DIF file is in the word processor, print out the first portion of the DIF information. AppleWorks uses a common DIF standard, but not all DIF formats are identical. To determine if changes are needed, compare the DIF format in question with a file created by AppleWorks. Then use the AppleWorks word processor to make the changes to the DIF file, save it on the ProDOS disk and import it into the AppleWorks spreadsheet.
