AppleWorks J __________________________________________________________________ AppleWorks and 10 CPI on LaserWriter __________________________________________________________________ If documents printed to a LaserWriter from AppleWorks contain extra, unwanted line spaces, some adjustments must be made. The Diablo emulation mode command string uses : Escape, CTRL-Underscore, CTRL-M for 10 characters per inch. This code sets the LaserWriter to 10 CPI, but, since the Super Serial Card firmware includes a Line Feed as it picks up the CTRL-M, it adds a line feed to each line. Thus, single spaced text is printed double spaced, double spaced text is printed triple spaced, etc., making single spacing in 10 characters per inch impossible. In order to fix this problem, set AppleWorks to insert the line feeds and configure the serial card NOT to add line feeds by setting switch SW2-5 to OFF. For the built-in serial port of an Apple IIGS, use the Control Panel; for the printer port of the Apple IIc, use the Apple IIc System Utilities.
