Welcome to the Apple II Hardware Forum Chat X MAN 187 : Hi. Any suggestions? AFA Fixit : 5" floppies are a problem. P] AFA Fixit : What Mac do you have? X MAN 187 : Quadra 660AV 8 mg 230 hd AFA Fixit : Do you have any communications software other than America Online for the Mac and //c? X MAN 187 : I have ClarisWorks, but am using GeoPort, no modem for the IIc. AFA Fixit : Don't need a modem, just two serial cables and a null modem adapter. If you have telecommunications AFA Fixit : software for both computers, you can transfer files via the serial ports. X MAN 187 : So, if I buy IIc software, the cables, & the null modem adapter, I'm set? AFA Fixit : It's good that you just want to move text files. Any other type is problematic. AFA Fixit : That's about it. AFA Fixit : Depending on the vintage of you're //c, you might find a used 3.5" UniDisk drive more appealing. X MAN 187 : Could I also print the text, scan it in, & convert it via fax to text? AFA Fixit : Yes, but my experience with OCR hasn't been all that great. AFA Fixit : What do you intend to print to from the //c? X MAN 187 : The text files from AppleWriter II AFA Fixit : Printer? AFA Fixit : Most Optical Character Recognition software doesn't care for dot matrix output. X MAN 187 : That's it. ImageWriter II. So with the UniDisk, I'd transfer to 3.5, then put those in the Mac? AFA Fixit : 3.5" floppy transfers have always been the easiest way to transfer files between the II and the Mac. AFA Fixit : Apple File Exchange can read ProDos 3.5" disks no problem. X MAN 187 : Well, thanks. This is some stuff to try. Bye. AFA Fixit : No problem. Good luck. AFA Fixit : Hi Corey! Welcome to the Apple II Hardware Forum Chat AFC Softy : Hey Walt. :) AFA Fixit : Hello Larry AFC Softy : Would have been by sooner but I'm packing for my move. :/ Past Time : Where you moving too Larry?? AFC Softy : have a better chance of getting a response there. AFA Fixit : Yep. AFC Softy : (or send email... :) CLIFF S213 : I think I did? AFC Softy : The message you posted was in a message baord which is linked to all of the Apple II forums. However, AFC Softy : that board is reserved for non-techie type stuff. CLIFF S213 : sorry :) OK where do I put EMAIL to? AFC Softy : Apple II Hardware (where you are now) has it's own message board where you can post hardware related AFC Softy : messages. :) AFA Fixit : FCP Sider is the name to mail AFC Softy : afk again :) CLIFF S213 : afk?
