Balloon v2.0 - a.Read.Me File This file contains last minute additions and correction to the Balloon Manual. Please read this file completely before installing or using Balloon! Don't Forget to Register! -=========================- Before you go any farther, please take a few moments to fill out and send in your Balloon registration card! If you don't, we won't be able to send you information on any future enhancements to Balloon! Better yet, if you send in your registration card, you can get a FREE copy of GS+ Magazine! Simply check the first box at the bottom of the registration card before you send it in and we'll send you a copy of the latest issue of GS+ Magazine! (If you are already a GS+ Magazine subscriber, you can check the second box, and fill in the volume and issue number of a back issue that you want, and we'll send it to you free!) Is Your Disk Bad? -=================- If, while installing Balloon, you get a message that your disk is bad, use the Finder to verify and validate your disk. If it does turn out to be bad, give us a call at (615) 332-2087 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. and we will send you a replacement disk. Command Key -===========- If you hold down the Command key when you open an archive with the Finder, the "Applications Get Files First" preference setting is temporarily reversed. This trick is useful if you want to have GS-ShrinkIt handle an archive instead of Balloon. Just hold down the Command key as you double-click on an archive, and GS-ShrinkIt should launch assuming you have the Applications Get Files First preference turned off. GS-ShrinkIt! -============- Speaking of GS-ShrinkIt, at the last minute, we decided to put GS-ShrinkIt on the Balloon disk. The GS-ShrinkIt application and its documentation is in the folder named GS.ShrinkIt. A special thanks to GS-ShrinkIt's author Andy Nicholas, who is also the developer of the NuFX standard, for giving us permission to distribute GS-ShrinkIt with Balloon! List View -=========- If you want to extract items from archives when Spectrum quits you should NOT use the "List View" setting of the "When expanding" preference (see chapter 6 in the manual for more on this preference). If you have the Balloon XCMD set to open archives in the list view, the Balloon XCMD will open the queued archives into list view windows and Spectrum will then regain control and quit, closing all open windows. Lost! -=====- If you are inside Spectrum and you quit without extracting the files that are currently in the Balloon XCMD queue, those files will be flushed from the queue when Spectrum quits. The files will still be where you downloaded them to, so you can use the Balloon desk accessory to open them as you normally would. Programmer Information -======================- If you're a programmer and want to take advantage of the features in Balloon (like the Balloon XCMD does) you're in luck! Included in the Programmer.Info folder on this disk is all the documentation and interface files needed for you to send requests to the Balloon request handler. Thanks! -=======- That's all for version 2.0 of Balloon. Remember, if you have questions or comments, give us a call at 615-332-2087 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Eastern Time. Thanks again for purchasing Balloon, and don't forget to send in your registration card today!
