This is a2des, a program which encrypts and decrypts files using the Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm in CBC mode. This particular version is 2.1.1, a maintenance release. I've made two minor changes since version 2.1. Nothing really significant, but they happened between when I posted a2des 2.1 to comp.binaries.apple2 and when I uploaded it to grind.isca.uiowa.edu, so I figured I'd throw them in. Version 2.1, by the way, corrected a memory mismanagement problem of version 2.0, which could slow down decryptions. No big deal. The source code is available on request. a2des is freeware.
