While updating my list below I found Telnetti on Aaron Pulver's web site and downloaded it but haven't had a chance to try it or to update my list with info about it. If anyone else is looking for it, go to Aaron's web site listed below for NetTime. >Now to the question: Is there anything else out there that Google won't >pick up? Although it is a little out of date now, you can check out Gareth Jones web page about internet applications for the IIgs at: http://modena.intergate.ca/personal/gslj/gsinternet.html (And yes, IN: The Mailbox is still in development.) Here is a list that I posted to Delphi a couple years ago that I just updated with a couple titles that weren't out then: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ TCP/IP Stack ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Title: Marinetti Version: v2.0.1 Author: Richard Bennett-Forest Available from: Marinetti web site http://www.apple2.org/marinetti/ Title: Marinetti Version: v3.0d4 (development version, not a release version) Author: Richard Bennett-Forest et al (now open source) Available from: Marinetti Open Source Project (aka MOSP) web site http://sourceforge.net/projects/marinetti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Telnet ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Title: Telnet Version: v1.0 Author: Richard Bennett-Forest Available from: Included with Marinetti v2.0.1 archive Title: Telnet Version: v1.0 (requires Marinetti v3.0 so version is incorrect?) There are often more than one place to get these programs. If anyone has any corrections or additions to the above list, let me know and I'll add them. I'm also thinking of adding a "Notes" field to put a little information about each program. I also used to have a version of this list that had any shareware fees listed in it but I don't know what happened to it. I'll have to add that back in again too. >As soon as I get the cash, I plan on buying Spectrum and its assorted >goodies, but I'd like to find other, free/shareware or even commercial, >equally useful software. I'm hoping to get a lot of IIgs programming done before KFest this year so hopefully there will be more internet applications by then. However, the more people writing stuff for the Apple II the better, if you ask me. Getting a "crash-course" in IIgs programming also reminds me that I've been neglecting my duties as the Dean of the Apple II University on Syndicomm.com so I really should do something about that soon too. -- Jeff Blakeney - Dean of the Apple II University in the Apple II Community on Syndicomm.com CUT the obvious from my address if you want to e-mail me Iosaef the Irascable wrote in: > I embarked on a hunt for Marinett-enabled applications. > Is there anything else out there that Google won't pick up? You've missed all of Geoff Weiss' programs and a few others. See this article for another (incomplete) list. http://modena.intergate.ca/personal/gslj/gsinternet.html Contrary to the tag of "In Development" on the above page, the Casper Web server is available as source code from MOSP. http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/marinetti/MOSP/Applications/ At one point I was working on a newsreader application. The pre-alpha source code was released long ago - in case anyone wished to work on the GUI development. I don't know what the extent of distribution was, possibly Delphi file archives. I still have plans to put more effort into this, however it has been stalled for many years. I'll put down re-releasing it as a TODO item for me. When I do, it will be here http://home.ozonline.com.au/klajr/apple/unfinished_projects.html Cheers, Andrew andrew.roughan@writeme.com (Roughana) wrote in message news:... > You've missed all of Geoff Weiss' programs and a few others. > See this article for another (incomplete) list. > http://modena.intergate.ca/personal/gslj/gsinternet.html > > Contrary to the tag of "In Development" on the above page, the Casper > Web server is available as source code from MOSP. > http://cvs.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/viewcvs.cgi/marinetti/MOSP/Applications/ What's the real story of development on the MOSP? It seems to have been at version (3.0.4?) forever, and I've never been very successful at gleaning info from Sourceforge sites. ;) > I'll put down re-releasing it as a TODO item for me. When I do, it > will be here > http://home.ozonline.com.au/klajr/apple/unfinished_projects.html A newsreader would be a definite godsend, if you ask me. :) Though with my ISP's news server burping rather badly (I'm using Google Groups/Dejanews because it's missed three-quarters of the postings) I'm still stuck using my PC. :) I looked on there, and you appear to be writing CHAP and MS-CHAP modules for Marinetti PPP? I'd experienced crashing with both Marinetti 2.0.1 and the MOSP version when trying to connect to this ISP over a modem, and I'm wondering if CHAP could've been the cause? (My previous ISP years ago had no problems with Marinetti) Take care! Josef rummikub32@yahoo.com (Iosaef the Irascable!) wrote: > What's the real story of development on the MOSP? Hmmm, that's not an easy to question to answer quickly. "Things are happening slowly" would be one appropriate response. > It seems to have been at version (3.0.4?) forever The last object code archive is 3.0d4. The last source code archive (incomplete) is 3.0d5. The last complete source code in the CVS repository is 3.0d6. There are some additions in CVS that will be part of 3.0d7. I would really like to see a release of an object code archive for everyone's benefit. However a release would be pointless while there appear to be issues with stability. See other threads regarding MacIP, TCP/IP and Appletalk for more discussion. > I've never been very successful at gleaning info from Sourceforge sites. ;) Try reading the "Latest News" from the MOSP site http://sourceforge.net/projects/marinetti > you appear to be writing CHAP and MS-CHAP modules for Marinetti PPP? > I'd experienced crashing [...] when trying to connect [...] > and I'm wondering if CHAP could've been the cause? Almost certainly. Any crash into SysFail with an "Unsupported LCP code" indicates that the PPP link layer does not support the negotiation options required by the Host and the Host is terminating the Link Layer negotiation. This is definately caused by the Host requesting CHAP authentication. My roommate's going through some severe ones himself, and is only now starting to recover. On TelnetNDA, I've tried it but not with much success. Some of the available telnet software (not just yours) just doesn't want to connect where others will, or has problems with servers that expect an LF instead of a CR or CR-LF. (I don't have specifics right now, but if you want I can do a rundown on systems/configurations locally and remotely that do and don't work with TelnetNDA.) I also look forward to the release of FTP-NDA. It'll be great getting some general-purpose 'Net client software, and it does appear you write good stuff. :) Take Care! If they require VT100 emulation, that's easy to understand since the current version doesn't support it. Otherwise, I'd be interested to find out. Kim Howe
