The IIgs uses NTSC or PAL scan rates for its RGB monitor, and the frequencies are well below what Mac monitors used (the 14" used the old Mac-standard 640x480@67Hz timings, and only those timings -- back then, multiscan monitors were still rare and expensive birds). As for other monitors that will work, the pickings now are somewhat slim; the last CRT multiscans that supported analog RGB at the frequencies a IIgs uses were made over a decade ago. If you can find a working one, a pre-FG series NEC MultiSync (like the II or the 3D) will work, as will some of the older Sony multiscans (1302, 1303 and 1402 according to Griffin's database). There are also a few old color monitors (made by Magnavox and Amdek, among others; Commodore also sold one) that will take analog RGB as well as TTL RGB (CGA) and composite; I have a Magnavox with that feature on my IIc+, though only as analog since the DIN connector for analog RGB isn't fitted. Keep in mind that these are all very old models now, and will be somewhat difficult to find in good condition. There are also scan doublers that will let you use a NTSC or PAL composite input on a regular VGA monitor, but I understand the quality leaves something to be desired, and I haven't seen one that will do analog RGB input yet. You can also use a LCD projector to do it, but they're still quite expensive, and would be somewhat like killing a fly with a wrecking ball in this case. -lee
