Usually this is in Slot 4 of a Apple ///. To do this. Turn off and unlug all wires cabels etc connected to the ///. Turn the machine on the reare end and underneath turn the 2 screws that hold the back lid in position 1/2 turn. Put the machine back on its bottom then lift off lid. find your ProFile controller card. Insert a screwdriver through the provided hole at the top of the card and lift HARD! At this point it might be a good idea to use some canned air to clean out any dust biunnys inside. now... Repostion card and reinsert it again HARD! Next pust down on all socketed chips on the motherboard that you can reach .I do NOT suggest doing this to ALL chips on the baord as that would require removing the motherboard and that is a bear to do, It requires removing 12 screws, 2 to 4 wires and is a pain to get back in right. Once done put the lid back on, reattach all wires including the ProFILE cable (It is a good cable?) Fire up and try. If THAT doesn't solve it, then the next thing I would try is rebuilding the ProFILE Driver file on your boot floppy. This can be done with the System Configuration program on the master disk and a ProFILE driver. Be sure to select the correct slot for the Drive. Directions for this can be found in the Apple /// section at www.wap.org. Good luck ;) -Bart Keeper of the Network from Heck
