Most files are available by three methods. The file name link downloads files from the server you are currently on using the HTTP protocol. The HTTP and FTP links following the file name will retrieve the file from the master Trenco archive using the HTTP or FTP protocols, respectively.


alarm.10.shk (8 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

alarm This is a reminder program, typically executed in the background. The program sleeps until the specified alarm time is reached, and then beeps the speaker and optionally prints a message. [version 1.0] This archive contains sources for both alarm(1) and calendar(1).

bcd.100.shk (24 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

bcd format input as BCD punch cards [version 1.0]

bork.100.shk (19 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

bork Convert input into swedish chef speak. Bork Bork Bork! [version 1.0]

caesar.100.shk (44 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

caesar Decrypt caesar ciphers (text where all letters have been rotated by a fixed number) or rotate text by a specific amount. [version 1.0]

calendar.10.shk (8 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

calendar This program consults a calandar database, and prints out entries corresponding to today's or tomorrow's entries. On weekends, "tomorrow" extends through Monday. [version 1.0] This is a symbolic link to alarm.10.shk

calendar.11.shk (32 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

calendar This program consults a calandar database, and prints out entries corresponding to today's or tomorrow's entries. On weekends, "tomorrow" extends through Monday. [version 1.1]

calendar.12.shk (37 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

calendar This program consults a calandar database, and prints out entries corresponding to today's or tomorrow's entries. On weekends, "tomorrow" extends through Monday. [version 1.2]

erp.parrot.shk (4 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

These are manual pages for erp(1) and parrot(1). Neither program actually exists; these are here for humour.

figlet.200.shk (68 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

figlet Creates styled large characters out of ordinary screen characters. [version 2.0] This archive contains the sources and v2.0 binary.

figlet.201.shk (24 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

figlet Creates styled large characters out of ordinary screen characters. [version 2.0.1] This archive contains an updated binary, only. It fixes a bug with the -F option.

fortune-a This is a simple shell utility which displays a random fortune. There are multiple ports of fortune(6) available for GNO. (You should install only one.) This version was written from scratch by Collin Douglas, and is designated as series "c". It was modified, separately, by both David Ong Tat-Wee (v1.1) and by Tilghman Lesher (v1.2). Version 1.1 was updated by David Ong Tat-Wee (DOTW), and fixed a bug affecting fortunes that contained a percent character. [version 1.1]

fortune.c12.shk (340 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

fortune-c This is a simple shell utility which displays a random fortune. There are multiple ports of fortune(6) available for GNO. (You should install only one.) This version was written from scratch by Collin Douglas, and is designated as series "c". It was modified, separately, by both David Ong Tat-Wee (v1.1) and by Tilghman Lesher (v1.2). See also "fortune-a" and "fortune-b". (Dated 17 Jun 97)

This version, designated as version 1.2 (even though it is internally documented as version 1.1) is based on version 1.0, modified by Tilghman Lesher. It includes the bug fix from version 1.1. There was also a series "c" version released by Tilghman on 13 Apr 97, but that version is identical to the one released on 17 Jun 97. [version 1.2]

inform.a55.shk (261 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

inform Inform compiles C-like HLL source files into Z-code format that can be run with any infocom interpreter (such as the LTOI interpreters, the infotaskforce interpreter, or the zip interpreter). [version 5.5] This archive seems to be the same version as "inform.b55.shk" except that the binaries differ and this archive contains one extra file, "freefall.z5". Dated 22 July 1995, 1 am (approximately).

inform.b55.shk (257 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

inform Inform compiles C-like HLL source files into Z-code format that can be run with any infocom interpreter (such as the LTOI interpreters, the infotaskforce interpreter, or the zip interpreter). infozip This is a port of the Zip infocom interpreter, v2.0. This should not be confused with the PC file compression program. [version 1.0]

jive A text filter which translates arbitrary text to its "jive" equivalent. [version 1.0]

martian.100.shk (19 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

martian Creates martian poetry in nroff format. [version 1.0]

now.120.shk (5 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

now Prints out various random phrases. The output of this program may be considered to be obscene by some people. [version 1.2]

paranoia.10.shk (40 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

paranoia A simple text adventure game, ported from Linux. [version 1.0]

pig.10.shk (33 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

pig Convert input into pig latin [version 1.0]

pom.100.shk (14 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

pom Calculate the current Phase Of Moon. [version 1.0]

quiz.100.shk (107 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

quiz Random knowledge tests. [version 1.0]

reminder.10.shk (30 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

reminder This provides an alarm clock and a calendar reminder program for the GNO/ME shell. The calendar program should also run under the ORCA shell, but it hasn't been tested there. [version 1.0]

rndname.410.shk (23 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

rndname Creates random names by a set of certain rules. [version 4.1]

strypt.100.shk (3 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

strypt This program will encrypt and decrypt an Artworx "Strip Poker II" image file for the Apple IIgs. [version 1.0] Source only.

sun.100.shk (60 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

sun Show sunrise and sunset times. [version 1.0]

thursday.10.shk (16 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

thursday thursday is a filter which accepts text on stdin, justifies it, then prints the result on stdout. [version 1.0]

tom.100.shk (1 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

This is another text filter, along the lines of jive and valspeak. It emulates the mannerisms of our favorite doctor. [version 1.0]

trek.100.shk (267 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

trek "Trek is a game of space glory and war." This is a port of the BSD text-based Star Trek game. [GNO version 1.0]

units.100.shk (69 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

units Units conversion program. [version 1.0]

valspeak.10.shk (44 k) Retrieve from Trenco by HTTP or by FTP.

valspeak A text filter which translates arbitrary text to its "valley girl" equivalent. [version 1.0] This is a symbolic link to jive.10.shk
