About: EMU.SDK For Release: 5/24/95 Distribution: World Status: FREEWARE - Copyright (C) 1995 by Charles Turley Requirements: IIgs (ROM 01 or 03), 800k RAM, Stereo card and full-size headphones. Optional equiptment: Hughes (SRS) Sound Retriever SystemHigh Definition 3-D Audio or any other SRS unit (for play-thru processing/filter enhancements and any type of either; analog or digital audio media recording device. (i.e.) High-definition audio tape recorder, DAT recorder, Digital MiniDisk recorder, CD audio recorder, etc. The EMU (Emulator Music Utility) disk is a totally experimental/proto-type release. It can only function, as a single music module player with this 'Audio Emulation and Enhancement Utility' disk. It can be used for playing any individual music module type as follows; OmniTracker GS, NoiseTracker GS (types 1 or 2). Keep in mind that you can also convert your SoundSmith and/or NoiseTracker GS music and wavebank file sets to the NoiseTracker GS module format. EMU.SDK is a Shrinkit 3.5" 800k disk archive file. It's self-booting and was designed using; FreeOS, fast-load, DMA, virtual memory and NO TOOLS. It should be unpacked to either; an 800k RAM disk or 800k 3.5 disk, then booted from the disk it was unpacked to. It can't be launched from GS/OS, P8 or P16. When you've finished listening to its content and using it for your own external audio recording needs, you must reboot your IIgs, if you wish to access your hard drive or any other disk/device using GS/OS, P8 or P16. It does not distrube any files that currently reside in your IIgs' RAM memory. The OmniTracker GS program is being privately developed as an all new, multi-format music converter, score, sequence, sound editor and stereo digitizer. When released, as a FREEWARE (hopefully in late 1995 or early 1996), the objective of the program will be; to support all GS music file formats, all sound file formats and all MOD, MED, MIDI imported file formats. The sample OT music module, included on the disk is a converted, original, Amiga MOD composition from U4IA, titled 'Freudian Dream'. This sample music module is loaded and loop-played in progressive order, with the basic program 'JukeBox'. It took a lot of time and effort to develop, enhance and fine tune the program, to allow it to step progressively and emulate with each replay; 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit audio presentations. The OT sample music module included on this disk was modified, enhanced, digitally step-filtered, remastered, loop processed with the Hughes (SRS) High-Definition Audio Retriever and saved to hard drive, with virtual 'CD' digital sound quality, using OmniTracker GS v1.0b2. I have information that there's development in progress, of a IIgs '16-bit' Audio digitizer card, with DSP built in and a LARGE DOC RAM, which will allow the by-pass of the current Ensoniq DOC, with software to support such functional enhancements. Pending its commercial release, I've decided to release this experimental and proto-type (single-module-player) software emulation program, so everybody can explore its use, for whatever purpose they wish. Essentially what you're getting with this disk, is the potential (with an little external, optional equipment and efforts on your part), of having a 'FREE' software emulator, utility and master player for an; 8-bit thru 64 bit, 4 to 30 track digital recording studio. I've always longed to have the quality of 16 bit audio, even if it had to be with emulations, on my GS and the abilities to present oversampling, for the illusion of more than 15 tracks. Thanks to the efforts, help and advise, from some of the most talented members of the 'GS Brain Trust' collective and using some of the same basic minipulations, that the MAC takes advantage of with its sound presentations, it's finally been developed. With the added bonus of allowing replay, for audio out put enhancement, with emulations for; 16, 32 and 64 bit resolution and sound quality, it's presented finally, with this EMU disk release. I realize, when you read the above claims of such astounding audio emulation, with a computer that only has; 8-bit, 15 track and 2 channel output capacities, you'll think I've lost contact with reality. Well, think whatever you want to think. I really dont care! I'm not releasing this for money or fame. I'm releasing it freely, to share it, with everybody that can put it to good use. I've tested this software emulation (single-module play/enhancement utility) audio out puts, with several audio testing devices. They all showed it does (indeed) progressively present, with replay of the single music module; 8-bit, 16-bit, 32-bit and 64-bit sound simulaton, resolution, quality and spectral-comparitive audio signals. The experimental OT music module was selected and designed, to present the FIRST ever 'EMULATION' of 16 bit/32 bit/64 bit audio and 24 track music, from a standard, stock IIgs. It uses a totally new principle, to allow these audio illusions. Thus, giving you; double the sound quality, resolution, clarity and track oversampling effects, respectively, with each successive replay of a single music module. The out put is of greater audio perception, than anything you've ever listened to before on your GS. I selected this music module for release with this EMU disk because it has several vocal samples, that clearly present; improved audio resolution, definitive clearity, audio spectral enhancements and audio expansive perceptions, with each looped-replay of the music module. Instrument and sound samples can be deceptive. But vocal samples are not! Listen and judge for your self. Some of the development files, used with the JukeBox program on this EMU disk release have been updated, modified, compressed and/or encrypted. They are released for the exclusive use with this EMU disk only, unsupported and without any claims for other applications or use! Listening to the experimental OmniTracker GS music module on this EMU disk, with its mind-blowing audio emulations and enhancement abilities, unique, special effects, amazing and complex sound scape dimensional designs, should astound everybody that listens to it and prove very useful, for your own personal and/or commercial external recording and processing needs. This EMU disk release includes a special modified player file (with a built-in multiple filter), OTSEP. You can use it and this JukeBox basic program (AS-IS) to also play a single (type 1 or type 2) NTGS module, with the same audio results. The only modification needed, is to replace the 'O' music module file, with any single NTGS module of your choice, then change the name of the file, you replaced it with (in line 200) of the 'JukeBox' basic program, save the JukeBox basic program file to disk, over the older one and reboot the disk. A simple alternative, would be to just rename the new module with the same 'O'. Thus, avoiding your having to do anything more before rebooting the disk. I would appreciate any comments or feedback you care to relate to me directly. If you need any additional information concerning this 'EMU' (Emulator Music Utility) disk, the experimental OT music module, its special and unique audio emulations and the other ALL-NEW effects as presented, you can contact me, as noted below.
