6/20/98 My special thanks go to Boris 'Marvin' Guenter per my request to him to make the following translation, from German to English Cheers, Tom (Charles T. 'Dr. Tom' Turley) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- GS to IBM V1.0 - (c) 29.9.1991 by Dirk Wagner I got the idea for this program when I wrote the documentation for my invoice program DiWaFakt. I did that on the Apple side of my computer, because I was able to work better with the text editor programs there. Furthermore, the printouts with the Harmonie-driver on my laser printer looked much better. Now the program should have an online help function. To save work, I wanted to print the part of the documentation which corresponded to the current program situation to the screen. No technical problem under Clipper 5.01, except for the modified vowels. On PePo's PC-transporter tool disk were some transfer programs, but I have not been able to run them, or the result has not been as expected. So I sat down and wrote the program GS to IBM. In Clipper. Simply to learn how to use the low level file functions there. The translation table was put into a Clipper database, so it can be changed or extended easily from the outside with Dbase or Clipper. The program is included in a self-extracting archive together with the database. Simply get the file UMLAUTTRANS from MS-DOS with TRANSFER and copy it without translation! Make sure that database, program and the text which is edited are in the active MS-Dos directory. I have not yet got the time to include a pathname check, because I am still working on DiWaFakt. GS to IBM is shareware! If you want to use it legally, please send at least 15.- DM to me. If you are interested in the source code, send 25.- DM. Have fun !
