It appears to be completely unprotected. If you are having problems running the Hires, Double-Hires, and File.Utilities programs from the 8-bit version of 816-Paint, the following may help ... If you put the 816-Paint files into a folder (sub-directory) on hard disk or on a 3.5" diskette, the files which go into the folder are the two painters, the file utility, and Z816.SYSTEM. You do not need to copy the ProDOS file. 816-Paint painters expect fonts to be in the SYSTEM/FONTS folder of the boot volume and printer setup files to be in a SYSTEM/PRINTERS folder of the boot volume. On a IIgs booting under System6, you will, most likely, already have plenty of fonts. (You can add any fonts you like from the 816-Paint diskette.) The PRINTERS folder can be copied from the 816-Paint diskette to your boot volume SYSTEM folder. The 816 painter and file utilities programs expect to be launched via Z816.SYSTEM. On a GS, instead of trying to launch, say, the Hires painter directly from the System6 Finder, try double-clicking on Z816.SYSTEM and select the Hires painter from the menu. The same goes for the Double-Hires painter and File.Utilities. Something else that may be causing a snag: Z816.SYSTEM does not like to be launched via BASIC. You will get the usual menu; but, you will not be able to start a painter. If you are in BASIC under a modern version of ProDOS (e.g. v2.0.3), you can do a BYE and select Z816.SYSTEM from the 'tree' display. Or, it is okay to just launch Z816.SYSTEM from BASIC and, then, immediately, select the "Quit to ProDOS" menu option to get to the 'tree'. Rubywand
