Compatability of IIgs Graphics in 640 Mode I tested out 14 programs for compatability, using a GS with 1.25 meg, and an original 5.02 system disk, unaltered with NDA or CDA additions, if possible, or cold booted older program disks that do not run under 5.02. In the following list, * means there was a palette change, ** means a drastic palette change, and NO means that either the graphic did not load in, but caused no problems, or simply did not show up on menu, or was dimmed. If a major problem occurred, I noted it, and said DO NOT USE. I listed each program I tested, along with each format in which it saves graphics. I saved graphics in each of these formats, and either loaded in, or made the attempt to load in, each of these formats into the other programs. Some programs will change palettes when loading in a graphic, but have built in corrections to adjust them as closely as possible to the original, such as Bud Gehr's D.T.PAINTER, which gives you the option of using the 'host' or the 'pic' colors, and Appleworks GS, etc. I did not always note this, nor did I note all of the palette changes. There are a few to be leary of, and those ARE noted. I did NOT test the Beagle Brothers versions of the old Styleware programs, but the original ones that I owned. I don't think I will try this with 320 mode, unless I get a hard drive in the near future. Have fun! -Rose APPLEWORKS GS:- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AppleWorks GS: YES ComputerEyes: YES Deluxe Paint: YES Draw Plus: YES D.T.Painter: YES GDL: YES HyperStudio: YES MultiscribeGS: --- PaintWorks Gold: 1.APF: YES, 1/2 2.Paint Format: YES 3.Screen: YES Quickie: 1.Screen: YES 2.Paint Format: YES 3.APF: NO SHRConvert: 1.$C1: YES 2.$C)-APF: YES, 1/2 3.$C0-Pakbytes: YES The Graphics Exchange: 1.APF: YES 2.PIC: YES 3.Pakbyte: YES 4.Paintworks: YES 5.Binary: YES 6.Graphic Writer: Doesn't Show on menu Top Draw: 1.Top Draw format: Doesn't show on menu 2.Pict: Yes, but ONLY part done in colors, NOT parts done with patterns, which show up BLACK 816 Paint: 1.Screen: YES 2.Binary: YES 3.Page: YES, 1/2 COMPUTEREYES:- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AppleWorks GS: YES ComputerEyes: YES Deluxe Paint: NO Draw Plus: NO D.T.Painter: NO GDL: YES HyperStudio: NO MultiscribeGS: --- PaintWorks Gold: 1.APF: NO 2.Paint Format: NO 3.Screen: YES* Quickie: 1.Screen: YES 2.Paint Format: NO 3.APF: NO SHRConvert: 1.$C1: YES 2.$C)-APF: NO 3.$C0-Pakbytes: NO The Graphics Exchange: 1.APF: NO 2.PIC: YES** 3.Pakbyte: NO 4.Paintworks: NO 5.Binary: YES** 6.Graphic Writer: YES** Top Draw: 1.Top Draw format: NO 2.Pict: NO 816 Paint: 1.Screen: YES 2.Binary: YES 3.Page: NO DELUXE PAINT:- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AppleWorks GS: YES, 1/2 ComputerEyes: YES Deluxe Paint: YES Draw Plus: NO D.T.Painter: YES GDL: YES HyperStudio: YES* MultiscribeGS: --- PaintWorks Gold: 1.APF: YES* 2.Paint Format: NO 3.Screen: YES, after telling you it is different format, loads in with slight palette change Quickie: 1.Screen: YES 2.Paint Format: NO 3.APF: YES* SHRConvert: 1.$C1: YES 2.$C)-APF: YES 3.$C0-Pakbytes: NO The Graphics Exchange: 1.APF: YES 2.PIC: YES 3.Pakbyte: NO 4.Paintworks: NO 5.Binary: YES 6.Graphic Writer: Doesn't show up on menu Top Draw: 1.Top Draw format: NO 2.Pict: NO 816 Paint: 1.Screen: NO 2.Binary: YES* 3.Page: NO...DON'T TRY! it freezes, requiring reboot DRAW PLUS:- (doesn't load ANY formats, but can create PAINT ~~~~~~~~~~~ which are created in two, separate, numbered files) D.T.PAINTER:- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ AppleWorks GS: YES ComputerEyes: YES Deluxe Paint: YES Draw Plus: NO D.T.Painter: YES GDL: YES HyperStudio: YES MultiscribeGS: --- PaintWorks Gold: 1.APF: YES, 1/2 2.Paint Format: NO 3.Screen: YES Quickie: 1.Screen: YES 2.Paint Format: NO 3.APF: NO SHRConvert: 1.$C1: YES 2.$C)-APF: YES 3.$C0-Pakbytes: NO The Graphics Exchange: 1.APF: YES 2.PIC: YES 3.Pakbyte: YES 4.Paintworks: NO 5.Binary: Doesn't show up on menu 6.Graphic Writer: Doesn't show up on menu Top Draw: 1.Top Draw format: Doesn't show up on menu 2.Pict: NO 816 Paint: 1.Screen: NO 2.Binary: YES 3.Page: YES, 1/2 GDL:- ~~~~~ AppleWorks GS: YES ComputerEyes: YES Deluxe Paint: YES Draw Plus: YES, but do NOT use...messes up screen D.T.Painter: YES GDL: YES HyperStudio: YES MultiscribeGS: --- PaintWorks Gold: 1.APF: YES 2.Paint Format: NO 3.Screen: YES/NO-Screen format gives msg that it is 320 pic, but loads in, and will work with SHRINK mode, but NOT in CLIP mode Quickie: 1.Screen: YES 2.Paint Format: YES 3.APF: NO SHRConvert: 1.$C1: don't use, as msg says it is 320 mode, and it WILL load, but will mess up screen & gets weird palette 2.$C)-APF: YES 3.$C0-Pakbytes: NO!
