Last Ninja "Making your Moves"  (copied from manual)

The last ninja moves in 3 dimensions as opposed to the one flat
dimension you may have experienced in other action games.  So when you
move him forward, backward, right or left, the direction he goes is
relative to the direction he's facing at the time you initiate the move

To change the direction the Last Ninga is facing, roll through all the
joystick positions until he is facing in the desired direction.

To run forward, backward, right or left push the joystick diagonally in
the direction you want to go

For precise positioning on the pathway move the joystick jwd,bwd,rt or
left.

To search for an item, fact the Ninja in the direction of the object,
hold down the joystick button, and push the joystick diagonally


FIGHTING WITHOUT WEAPON

Duck enemy blow: hold button 1 and push Joystick diagonally

Punch: hold button one, press right, left, or forward

Kick: Hold button one, and push joystick backward.

FIGHTING WITH SORD OR STAFF

Stab torso:  hold button one and push joystick to the right

Stab head:  hold button one and push joystick forward

Slash your  enemy:  hold button one and push joystick to left.

To Block:  hold button one and push joystick diagonally

Fighting wih NUMCHUKAS

Block: hold 1 and push joy diagonally

Hit enemy head: hold button one and joystick to the right

To slash enemy: hold button 1 and push joy to the left

THROWING SHURIKEN OR SMOKE BOMB:

To throw:  hold butt 1 and push joy to right or left

SOMERSAULTS
in combat:  must be moving forward

hold joystick forward and press button 1

Moderate distance:  hold joy diagonal and press button 1

short somersault
hold joy to right or left and bress button 1

Somersault to surmount an obstacle:

Long
Hold button one, then push joy forward or backward

Moderate Hold butt 1 then push joy diagonally

short
hold butt 1 then push joy right or left

Selecting objects and weapons:

To search and pick up:  Face in the direction of the object.  Then hold
down the joystick button and push diagonally

NOTE  to obtain an object, the Ninja's ****HAND***** must touch it.


To select weapon:  While ninja is stationary, press space bar to cycle
through your weapons until the one you want is pictured in the box
labeled USING on the \right side of the screen.

To select any other object, press LEFT OR RIGHT arow key or button 2 on
the joystick to cycle through your objects until the one you want is
pictured in the box labeled holding on the right side of the screen.

Stopping the quest:

PAUSE  press escape key
Sound ON/OFF:  control-A
Save  Control S
RESTORE control-R
QUIT:  control-Q

You can also use the Keypad to move.  5 is stop, 4 is left, 7 is up
left, 8 is up, 9 is up right.
