I'm quite surprised that nobody has posted this game for the apple yet. (At least I've never found it anywhere..) I enjoyed it a lot.. years ago. It was the last game I bought for my apple before software was unavailable :( I never did finish it.. To play you need an Apple //e, //c, //c+, or IIGS with at least 128k of memory (shouldn't be a problem with an emulator) If there is enough demand, I may be willing to scan the entire manual and post it (front to back cover). I only mentioned things in this text file that I deemed important to play the game. CHARACTER STATUS: Starving: lose hit points gradually until food is eaten again. Poisoned: lose hit points gradually until it wears off or is cured. Stunned: Can move normally, but cannot fight or act. Plagued: lose hit points steadily until cured.. contagious Critical: can move only, not act or fight Dead: character is carried by others. Can be resurrected only in the mausoleum. Chance of succeeding declines as the special corpse bar (replaces HP bar) gets shorter. More than one status at a time is possible.. most serious only shown. A small triangle will appear beside if more than one applies. All status flags can be seen in the Character Profile screen. INVENTORY: When you find an object, the true nature of it may not be apparent. A "?" will appear beside it until it is properly identified. A "?" beside a key means it has not yet been used to unlock anything. Items can break at times, but broken weapons can be reforged. While viewing a particular characters items, 1-4 can be pushed to see someone else's gear. There is a limit to the amount of food the party can carry. Any items dropped within a "Cache" in a Sanctuary remain until you take them out again. Nice feature to have a temporary storage like that.. SPELLS AND PRAYERS: When a Magician casts a spell it drains his psychic points. Strength of the spell depends on the ring of power (or level) that is used. Each level is determined by the type of metal a ring of power is made of. Metal(Fe), Copper(Cu), Silver(Ag), Gold(Au), Platinum(Pt), Crystal(Xt) Prayers also drain a Priest of energy.. be careful because it returns very slowly. SOUL AMULETS: Included with the game are pictures of the four Soul Amulets your party will use. These reveal, through a code, the names of the Ancients who constructed the Sanctuaries found throughout Eriosthé. Without these Amulets, your party would be unable to use the Sanctuaries. To activate a Sanctuary, you will be asked to name one of the Ancients in the following manner. The first symbol tells you which of the four Amulets the name can be found on, and the other five runes translate it to English letters. Find the correct Amulet and then start from the center outwards. Find the rune and the corresponding English letter beside it. Then move to the second ring and continue CLOCKWISE around it until you find the next matching rune. To activate a Sanctuary, you must decode and type the runes correctly. Sanctuaries need only be activated once. Enjoy the game and if you finish it, let me know how it turns out :) Kelly plywoodchicken@hotmail.com
