Display and Save of a JPEG on an Apple IIgs By Charles T. 'Dr. Tom' Turley This article presents a collective explaination for JPEG (aka - jpg) display, capturing JPEG screens and saving them in either; grayscale - 16 color, 256 colors and/or simply black and white IIgs SHR file format. Using te following 3 IIgs programs, archived as; JpeGS.SHK, JPGVIEW.SHK, SP.NDAv1.0.SHK - it's possible to display a standard JPEG (or jpg) graphic file format from any media storage device and then save it from the screen display in either; grayscale - 16 color, 256 color and/or simply black and white IIgs SHR file format. JpeGS.SHK, JPGVIEW.SHK, SP.NDAv1.0.SHK. If, after reading it you have any problems with understanding the proceedures to do this - please contact me by either email and/or voice telephone call. I'll be happy to assist you to solve any problems you encounter. Both JPGVIEW.SHK (JpegGS display) and JpeGS.SHK (JpeGS display) are GS/OS menu GUI applications that will allow you to (respectively) display JPEG graphic files on an Apple IIgs - on screen in either; grayscale - 16 color, 256 colors and/or simply black and white IIgs SHR file format. SP.NDAv1.0.SHK (Screen Print v1.0 NDA - a New Desk Accessory), allows you to save the displayed screen to a standard SHR Apple IIgs graphic format. This works for any screen displayed - be it grayscale, B & W, 16 color or up to 256 colors. You do not need a Second Sight card to do this. Oh yes, you can also print the screen to your color printer. That's about all there is to tell you. Enjoy viewing all the JPEGS and converting/saving them to SHR graphic format, for use with the Apple IIgs. Cheers & Best Wishes, Tom Email: cturley@grin.net Voice Tel.: 415-468-1609
