Manual information is also available from this folder in ASCII text dfile format as file: AWGSRef.Manual ---------------------------------------------------- AWGS Full Reference - using TextDisplayDA v1.0.2 Release Notes TextDisplayDA v1.0.2 Version 1.0.2 of TextDisplayDA fixes all reported bugs and adds resources (rWindColor, rCtlColorTbl and rBackPat) which permit the user to customize TextDisplayDA window and button control colors. See the More Info... dialog of TextDisplayDA for additional information on changing the window and control colors. Also, the program code was reworked to EXACTLY follow the guidelines for using resources in an NDA, and to allow for keyboard equivalents for activating window controls. TextDisplayDA v1.0.2 is compatabile with GS/OS 6.0 and may also be compatible with GS/OS 5.0.4, however, GS/OS 5.0.4 compatability is not claimed. Author: J.T. This a complete listing of AWGS functions, examples and explanations as found in appendix A of the AWGS Reference manual. The list is accessable as an NDA using TextDisplayDA (included), thereby offering the user online help not found in AWGS. TextDisplayDA is generic in that other text can be substitued for the AWGS function list, since the text is a resource for the NDA. ** GS ShrinkIt is needed to unpack this file. GS ShrinkIt can be downloaded from "ShrinkIt Support Area" of the Utilities Folder. AWGS Reference is available from within the AWGS program, using the NDA - Text DisplayDA. Release Notes TextDisplayDA v1.0.1 Version 1.0.1 of TextDisplayDA fixes a bug in version 1.0 that would cause a system crash when returning from a Prodos 8 program to a GS/OS program such as the Finder or other lauancher. This problem did not appear when the program was installed as a true virtualDA (VDA) under DeskTop Utilities, but only if it TextDisplayDA was preloaded as a VDA or loaded at startup from the /System/Desk.Accs/ folder. This shouldn't happen now with TextDisplayDA v1.0.1. Also while trying to correct this bug, I came across another problem which occurs when TextDisplayDA is installed as a true VDA (not preloaded). Because TextDisplayDA uses the TextEdit Tool, which cannot be assumed to be loaded at startup, TextDisplayDA must load and start TextEdit. This does not present much of a problem, except if more than one TextDisplayDA is open on the desktop, each with different text information for display, and they are installed as true VDA's (not preloaded). In this case, if TextDisplayDA opened first is shut down while other TextDisplayDA's remain open, the system hangs. This is because TextDisplayDA must perform housekeeping to insure that any tools which it starts are shutdown when it is unloaded. This happens when it is being used as a true VDA with a progra that does not use TextEdit (AppleWorksGS for example), and the window is closed. I know of no way around this problem at this time and I wanted to issue a release with the Prodos 8 problem corrected as quickly possible, but I will continue to work on it. If anyone has any ideas on how to solve this problem please let me know. At any rate, TextDisplayDA v1.0.1 can still be used as a VDA with DeskTop Utilities , it just has to be preloaded.
